Be sure to replace the shebang at the beginning of the script from "python" to "python3.6", like this: # yum install python36u python36u-libs python36u-devel python36u-pip If you do wish to use Python version 3, you can download this version from, which is an online community dedicated to delivering high quality packages of newer versions of popular software. Python version 3 is available, however, it is not included with the Red Hat and/or CentOS distribution (at the time of writing this article).
